Grading Policies
Student work is divided into three grading categories by the district.
Homework
Homework is worth 5% of your students overall grade. Homework assignments will be assessed as a completion grade and point values will be assigned as below:
2pt = Completed and present at time of assessment
1pt = incomplete and present at time of assessment
0pt = not completed or not present at time of assessment
Exempt = student was absent day assignment was given or assessed.
Homework assignments will NOT be accepted late. All homework assignments will be reviewed in class the day they are due. Students who are absent are expected to complete the missing work and check their answers using the answer keys provided in the classroom.
Formative Assessments:
These include quizzes, classwork and projects (sometimes partially completed at home) and any assignment that I will use to determine the direction of my teaching.
Formative assessments are worth 35% of your students overall grade. Formative assessments will be accepted late with a 30% penalty. A "Missing Assignment" form must be completed and signed by a parent/guardian prior to being turned in. You can download the form using the link below.
Summative Assessments:
These include end of unit tests, projects and performance assessments. Science Fair will be included in this category. Summative Assessments are worth 60% of your students overall grade. Summative assessments will be accepted late with a 30% penalty. A "Missing Assignment" form must be completed and signed by a parent/guardian prior to being turned in.
