What do you want to do after High School???
Follow the steps below to find careers that fit your interests.
Step 1: Explore!
Answer Part A on “My Career Tracking Worksheet”
Go to: http://stemcareer.com/students/
* scroll to the bottom of the website and chose "STEM by Discpline"
Choose 5 careers to learn about (try some that you have never heard of and some that sound interesting to you).
Read about these 5 careers. Watch the video if there is one.
Narrow your choices down to 2 careers that sound interesting.
Step 2: Top Two!
Go to: http://www.bls.gov/oco/home.htm
Click on A-Z Index

“aircraft mechanic” from the list)
Read each career description. Under the “Training” heading find out what college degree or training program is needed for this career. Record the
information you find in Part C, then go to BGSU in Step 3!
Step 3: Building My Dreams at BGSU!
Go to: http://www.bgsu.edu/catalog/majors.html Find the degree program and/or major you will need for each career.
Click on the green checkmarks to see what classes are needed for each of your 2 careers.
What courses do you think you need to take in high school to prepare for these college classes?

Step 4: STEM Career Infomercial
You will be creating an informative and persuasive commercial about the STEM career that you find most appealing and fitting of your interest/skill set. The Infomercial must be in the form of a digital movie. You will present this infomercial to the class on Friday. All Infomercials must be between 1-2 minutes long and include the following information:
Education Requirement: What type of degree is required (High school, Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D), What college major/coursework is required. What college would you go to?
Job Description: what do people in this career do day to day? Is Travel involved? What skills are necessary for this type of job?
Salary Range: What is the average salary for someone in this career?
List of Employers: List at least 5 companies/agencies that hire people in this career
Interest: What is so appealing about a job in this field?
Tag line: All successful commercials have a tag line or phrase that is repeated throughout the commercial. It should be memorable so that even after your commercial is over, people are still repeating the phrase.
Use the links below to find the information. I have three video cameras for you to use when you are ready to film. You may use students in the classroom to act in your film if you wish. Your grading rubric is below.
